Tell us about yourself along with a fun fact!
My name is Jazmine Staten and I am a southern belle from Louisiana. I am an undergraduate junior at the great Louisiana State University pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Information Technology Management. My life consists of shopping, food, hanging with family, and pursuing my faith in God. I am passionate about inspiring youth, taking chances, and being happy throughout my journey. My goals consist of getting my BS in CS and and MBA. I plan to one day be the CEO of a fortune 500 company and start my own charity foundation, while giving my family the world.

What # would define your life journey?
#fearless

Favorite website / app:
I am such an app oriented person because it is quicker for me to use an app on my phone than to navigate to a website. My favorite apps are Google Maps, groupme, Yelp, Outlook, and Instagram.

Someone who inspires you and knowledge they have imparted:
My mother, Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys. These ladies are phenomenal because they all are inspirational figures in my life. My mother has always believed in me and the life decisions that I make. Maya Angelou inspires me through her Phenomenal Woman poem. Michelle Obama motivates me through her service in the community. Beyonce gives me confidence through her lyrics. Alicia Keys #nomakeup movement allows me to rebuild my self esteem.

Song that makes you want to dance:
Beyonce — Flawless
I love, love, loveeee Beyonce and when I hear Flawless it makes me feel confident. Finding my confidence in the field of Computer Science is a tough task for me as an African American woman. Sometimes I just need something like a song to give me that extra push to the finish line.

Challenge you’ve faced and how you overcame it:
Although I am an undergraduate junior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, I have been given the opportunity to work three internships since I been in school. Having internships is awesome, but the challenge for me is finding a company who challenges and helps me throughout my internship term. Sometimes I feel as if I should know more because I have that experience on my resume, but in actuality it has been a struggle. Either I am given easy work on the job or work that I do not have the right amount of support to help me. I believe I just have not found the fit for me yet and that is the reason why I started interning at a young age because I want to know what works for me. It is okay to try something new and it is good to know that something is not the fit for you. Everything in life is a learning experience, so be #FEARLESS and never limit yourself.

Ideal Job:
My ideal job would be working for a fortune 500 company in a management position. I would love to live in a big city where I work for a company who values me as an individual and my values. A company who believes in diversity, gives back to the community, and keeps a balance between work and life is the company for me. Whatever I do in life, my goal is to be happy.

What knowledge would you impart to women in order for them to REIGN their lives?
Dreaming BIG and knowing that the sky is the limit is the first step to becoming GREAT. You cannot dream BIG and not put in the work to achieve those dreams. Hard work and determination is the major key to success. A dream without a plan is nothing more than just a dream. It will forever be a vision. DREAM BIG and BE #FEARLESS!
