Women Who Reign: Suveena Thanawala
“Do not bring people in your life who weigh you down, and trust your instincts. Good relationships feel good. They feel right. They don’t hurt. They’re not painful. That’s not just with somebody you want to marry, but it’s with the friends you choose. It’s with the people you surround yourself with.” — Michelle Obama

Tell us about yourself along with a fun fact!
I’m a sophomore at the University of Southern California, studying Computer Engineering & Computer Science with an Entrepreneurship minor, on a Pre-Law track. I love that I’m able to explore a variety of my interests and pursue them in a degree, and on top of that be involved in research, student organizations, and professional development associations at USC. Originally, I’m from the Bay Area, California, but I spent last summer abroad in Madrid. It was the most unforgettable experience I’ve had in my life — I was able to experience a new culture on my own through spending my days at coffee shops, getting lost on the Metro, exploring Spanish cuisine (I’m a huge foodie & believer that you can really understand a person or culture through food), and using my Spanish skills from high school to communicate with people who are local.
